Hypecoins are dying, and I’m glad.
It’s normal in a new field for there to be a lot of wrong turns, mistakes, and failures along the way. And at some point, for copycats to come in and start imitating the real innovators, but…
The magic of innovation can’t be copied. It’s something new. Different.
True creation is rare and wonderful.
Less rare, yet still wonderful, is the combining of existing things into new forms and functions. Both are valuable. Both require effort.
And both are happening in the quiet corners of crypto, away from the shouting of the money-makers, and far from the seduction of charlatans.
Meanwhile, lazy copycats are going the way of the dinosaur. And what I’m looking for right now in my portfolio is…
Real innovation. Real utility. Real value.
And as the purge continues, these projects will become more and more obvious. Smart money will flow to these innovators. Society benefits as new levels of innovation are achieved.
Welcome to “Natural Selection in Business 101.”
I’m being extra critical right now when evaluating new projects, knowing the pressure recent price action has put on VC and PE capital. And that the easy-financing crypto projects have enjoyed will be harder to get.
Now, I’m no great predictor of future events, but if the doomsayers are correct and we’re in for a crypto winter…
As a crypto investor, I want to be dollar-cost-averaging into great projects in preparation for the next bull run, and…
As an entrepreneur… I want to be scooping up great projects that VC and PE firms are offloading… to list when digital assets are in vogue again.
Times like these are when fortunes are made by those who dare.

Michael Hearne
